Lou Manzo spearheaded the acquisition of the urban infill land by purchasing the dairy processing plant of Green Spring Dairy. The land was rezoned with the former milk-truck parking lot reserved for future residential (future townhome site) and the planned unit development (PUD) was approved after much community input in 1989. The redevelopment opened in 1992, anchored by a national grocery chain (SuperFresh) with a loan guarantee from the same. KindBild's CEO was a high-schooler when it was delivered and he converted the dairy cooling tower replica to a loft-office after returning from working in San Francisco. Mark later developed the reserved residential land into a 40-lot townhome community with NVR Homes, again with much community input.
